UCA Camp '14- Bringing Home the BANANA!!

July 14, 2014
By Chelsey Starnes of Colerain High School/WeAreColerain.com

This past week, our cheerleaders attended UCA Cheer Camp at Miami University! Needless to say, the girls cheered their hearts out and made us all proud! We came home with many awards, trophies, and memories that will last a lifetime!! We came to camp with one goal- to represent Colerain the best we could! We are proud to be Cardinals and love cheering for our school.

Our girls competed with about 250 cheerleaders this year and we are proud to list all of the accomplishments the girls earned this year.

Here are the awards we won at camp..

Freshman Jump Contest Winner- Ciera Simpson

Pin It Forward (girls who displayed leadership, sportsmanship, and overall outstanding cheerleader characteristics)- Naomi Miller, Lauren Lemons, and Kennedy Smith

All- American Cheerleaders (girls had to try out to make the All-American squad. Only the top 12% of the entire camp made the squad)- Blayre Montgomery, Amber Wetterich, Hazel Swisshelm, Lauren Lemons, Kennedy Smith, BreAunah Dunnom, Leah Focke, and Catherine Mortimore.

Home Dance- 3rd place (all 3 squads performed our Home Routine)

X-treme Routine- 1st place Freshman squad, 1st place Junior Varsity squad, 2nd place Varsity squad

Sideline Cheer- 1st place Freshman, Junior Varsity, and Varsity squads

Cheer- 2nd place Junior Varsity squad

Overall Game Day Champs (highest score for Cheer, Chants, and Band Dance all together!)- 1st place Junior Varsity squad

Superior Squads (3 Blue Ribbons of our evaluations throughout camp)- Freshman, Junior Varsity, and Varsity squads

Finally, the MOST important award. What we've been working so hard on, what our girls look forward to all year long. What we coaches want to hang in the office, what we pride ourselves on, and what bonds our team together.. The BANANA!!! (the most spirited and overall best squad at camp)
