Keys to Victory for Colerain

• GET OVER WEEK 3 – Simple…forget the win over St. Xavier.  It’s over.  Time to move on to Princeton.  This is a trap game in that it comes after a huge win.  Don’t be fooled by Princeton’s record.  They have some football players and it can be said that they have surprised many by underachieving to date.  They have the talent to cause problems and make things much more difficult on Colerain than they’d like.

• STAY CLEAN – Keep the penalties to a minimum.  Colerain only 12 yards in penalties against St. Xavier and that was a big reason why they were successful against the Bombers.  Same rules apply to this game.  Given Princeton’s playmakers short fields because of sloppy penalty play on defense is a recipe for trouble.  Keep that laundry in the pockets of the zebras.

• TACKLE SOUNDLY – Carry over from the past two weeks.  Really going to be a factor this week as the Princeton playmakers are big and fast.  Poor tackling will lead to extra yards and first downs that should not be given up.

Bottom-Line
Colerain is the favorite in this game.  They are playing a team that is 0-3 while coming off a victory against their arch-nemesis St. Xavier.  Now, toss all that out because it’s Princeton.  GMC play starts this week and the Cardinals are looking for their 13th consecutive GMC championship.  It begins with this home opener against the Vikings on Little Cards night.  These Cardinals have a chance to be something really special and in reality, a large step in that process begins tonight.  They shouldn’t have the back and forth this week like they did last week but they will have to focus and keep their heads in the game throughout.  Being faster and in better shape is one thing.  Staying focused is another.  As Coach Bolden always says, “Colerain is everyone’s superbowl so you better to be ready to play!”  I believe the Cardinals WILL be ready to play and will hand Princeton their 4th consecutive loss on the season.
