Week 8 Prep Football Preview Capsules

October 14, 2011
Genoa-Kingston High School

MARENGO (3-4, 1-2 BIG NORTHERN CONFERENCE EAST) AT GENOA-KINGSTON (1-6, 0-3 BNC EAST)

Game time: 7 p.m. today

Scouting the Indians: As the record indicates, it’s been an inconsistent season for Marengo. The Indians snapped a three-game losing streak last Friday with a 17-14 win against North Boone, which beat Genoa-Kingston convincingly earlier this season. During the losing streak – to three good teams: Winnebago, Harvard and Richmond-Burton – Marengo allowed 40 points per game. It’s pretty safe to say the Indians go as their defense plays.

Keys to victory: G-K’s offense. The Cogs have to establish something, anything, especially up front. Expect senior fullback Luke Schumacher to have a big game on senior night, but someone else needs to step into the complementary role. If they do – and if G-K is healthy – this is a winnable game.
