The junior had a nine-hole average of 39.9. "He just got better as the year went on. He has a lot of natural golf talent," DeKalb coach John Cordes said. "He hits the ball a long way and has soft hands so he's got a good touch around the green." Mason Struthers Sophomore - DeKalb Struthers joined Schmitt at state and had a nine-hole average of 40.7 on the season. Cordes said the key to Struthers' success was his consistency. "He had a nice, solid year. He's got a lot of consistency," Cordes said. "As the season went along he got a lot more consistent with his chipping and putting." Colton Craig Senior - Hinckley-Big Rock The senior was a sectional qualifier, shooting an 83 at the Class 1A Mendota Regional, good for third place. "Great with his mid-irons and putter," H-BR coach Todd Prellberg said of Craig, who had a nine-hole average of 40.25. "Plays smart, takes what the course gives him and knows when and where he can pick up strokes." Drew Hawkins Senior - Sycamore The Spartans' top golfer got off to a hot start in Western Sun play, helping him earn all-conference honors. Hawkins was also a sectional qualifier, and had a nine-hole average of 39.8 "Through the first half of the season he pretty much dominated the meets in our conference," Sycamore coach David Burdick said.
