'85 Bears to Host Football Camp at GKHS

January 24, 2013
By Dirk Campbell of Genoa-Kingston High School

On a date to be determined in July, several members of the 1985 Chicago Bears Super Bowl Championship team will come to GKHS to run a one day football camp. Last year, at a similar camp run at DeKalb High School, Otis Wilson, Shaun Gayle, Steve Fuller, Tyrone Keys, Dennis Gentry, and Tim Wrightman were on hand. This camp will be open to any students between the ages of 7-17. There will not be a fee for students to attend the camp, but the only way for a student to gain admission is through a donation of blood at a blood drive run by Lifesource that will be conducted at a date in June. Adults will be able to donate blood on behalf of any student who is too young to donate themselves. There will be an hour and a half camp for students ages 7-12 and another hour and a half camp for students 13-17. The former Bears' players who are on hand will sign autographs and pose for pictures for all camp participants. I will give exact dates for both the blood draw and the camp when they become available. Thank you.
