Cogs win triangular

September 5, 2012
Genoa-Kingston High School

Andrea Strohmaier and Emily Wakeley each shot a 42 to earn medalist honors for Genoa-Kingston in the Cogs’ triangular win over Plano and Hinckley-Big Rock. The Cogs had a score of 179. Plano shot a 215 and the Royals finished with a 232.

Angel Cassidy added a career-best 49 for G-K, who is now 9-0-1.

“The girls are really on their way, playing good at the right times,” G-K coach Darrin LaForce said. “Our 3-6’s are really helping our 1’s and 2’s out with good scores.”

Emily Herrmann led H-BR with a 56.

“I believe our players will always benefit when they play with the area’s top 1A players. Most meets do not have the quality of players we had tonight with Wakeley, Strohmaier and [Plano’s] Riley Loux,” H-BR coach Greg Jourdan said. “Emily Herrmann had another breakthrough night and we’ll need her to post as we begin to prepare for the last leg of the season.”
