Home » Girls' Basketball NewsGirls' Basketball Power RankingsJanuary 24, 2012 Genoa-Kingston High School1. DeKalb (16-4, 5-0 Northern Illinois Big 12) The Barbs’ three-point loss to Benet on Saturday wasn’t enough to drop them from this week’s top rank. 2. Kaneland (13-6, 4-1 NI Big 12) Knights’ pressure defense forced 40 turnovers in their blowout win against Streator on Saturday. 3. Hinckley-Big Rock (17-5, 6-0 Little Ten Conference) Royals streak of five straight Little Ten Conference tourney titles ended last week. 4. Sycamore (9-8, 2-3 NI Big 12) Spartans will have a challenge matching up against DeKalb’s size in this week’s showdown. 5. Hiawatha (12-7, 5-3 LTC) Hawks coach Franz Schumacher doesn’t think his team lost any respect after losing to Somonauk in the Little Ten tournament last week. It didn’t lose a spot in the power poll, either. 6. Genoa-Kingston (7-9, 1-4 Big Northern) Sophomore Andrea Strohmaier continues to be a positive for the Cogs, scoring 18 points and grabbing 12 rebounds Saturday in their 61-38 loss to Byron. 7. Indian Creek (4-16, 2-7 LTC) The Timberwolves are the fifth seed in the seven-team Class 1A Indian Creek Regional, but coach Paul Muchmore is disappointed six of those teams come from the same conference.
