No. 13 Martinsville defeats No. 15 Columbus North in girls golf

Columbus North High School MARTINSVILLE -- Senior Molly English shot a 40 on Tuesday (Sept. 6) to lead the No. 13 Martinsville girls golf team to a 180-194 victory over No. 15 Columbus North.
English's round led a group of four Artesians in the 40s on a cool, windy day on the par-36 layout at FoxCliff Golf Club.
Senior Allie Smith carded a 46 to pace the Bull Dogs, who dropped to 7-2 in dual matches.
Freshman Sydney Anderson added a 48, while sophomore Lauren Backmeyer had a 49. Senior Jaewon Jung, junior Emily Morris and sophomore Sam McQueen all had 51s.
Columbus North is off the rest of this week at the varsity level, but the JV team hosts Martinsville at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday (Sept. 7). The varsity is back in action at 9 a.m. Monday in the Conference Indiana tournament at Cascades Golf Course in Bloomington.
