Blake Lane, a 2011 graduate of Columbus North High School, has signed to continue his academic and athletic career at Ancilla College, a National Junior College Athletic Association school in Donaldson, Ind.

Lane, an outfielder in baseball, hit .250 and had an on-base percentage of .364 in 2011 for the Bull Dogs. He plans to study business at Ancilla.

"Blake has a tremendous work ethic and was a great leader,” Columbus North Brian Muckerheide said. "He has been a pleasure to coach.”

Ancilla coach Joe Yonta is happy to add Lane to the Chargers' program.

"It is great to have Blake be a part of the Ancilla program,” Yonto said. "He has excellent skills and work habits and is a class young man.”

Lane becomes the 27th athlete and fourth baseball player in the CNHS class of 2011 to set plans to continue his athletic career in college.
The other baseball players previously committing to college programs were Adams Jones with Owens (Ohio) Community College, Will Nelson with Rose-Hulman and Levi Pollert with the University of Saint Francis in Fort Wayne.
