Columbus North graduate wins Indiana Amateur golf tournament

COLUMBUS, Ind. -- Columbus North graduate Tyler Duncan won the Indiana Amateur golf tournament Thursday at Otter Creek Golf Course.
Duncan, who won the 2007 IHSAA state title, shot a 75 for a four-day total of 287. That gave him a one-shot win over McCormick Clouser of Bluffton.
Tony Lazzara of Carmel started the day two strokes back but posted four consecutive bogeys on the front nine and finished tied for fifth. Corey Ziedonis, an Indianapolis Cathedral graduate, began the day in third place and posted back-to-back birdies on the 14th and 15th holes but ran out of time to catch Duncan.
Duncan led by five strokes as he made the turn Thursday, and he didn't know about Clouser's strong run -- he shot 69 Thursday -- until near the end. Duncan, who wasn't used to the pressure that comes with playing with the lead in the final round of a tournament, was OK with that.
"It was just about being in that position," Duncan told The Indianapolis Star. "I hadn't been in that position a ton, so it was a learning experience."
