COLUMBUS, Ind. -- Senior Jerrett Stark finished a corner-kick restart situation Saturday night (Aug. 30), lifting the Columbus North boys soccer team to a 1-1 tie with Columbus East at Richard Wigh Soccer Complex.
Senior Drew Herron gave the Olympians a 1-0 lead with an unassisted goal in the 26th minute. East carried that advantage into the half.
Stark, however, punched a shot past East goalkeeper J.B. Baxter in the fourth minute of the second half. Senior Brayton Thornburg began the play with a corner kick. Senior Ed Meyer then moved the ball to Stark, who found the back of the net as the Bull Dogs moved to 1-1-1.
Junior Ty Bentham recorded three saves in goal for Columbus North. Baxter finished with 11 saves for the Olympians.
In the JV game, sophomore Kevin Morales and freshman Rico Hollencamp scored for the Bull Dogs as the teams played to a 2-2 draw. Scott Hammon scored both goals for Columbus East.
