August 31, 2014
Columbus North High School

COLUMBUS, Ind. -- Junior Katie Carlson scored in the 69th minute Saturday (Aug. 30), rallying the Columbus North girls soccer team to a 1-1 draw with rival Columbus East.
Senior Kyra Dasovich made 10 saves in goal for the Bull Dogs, who saw their record go to 1-1-1 for the young season.
Junior Elisa Watkins gave the Olympians a 1-0 lead with a goal in the 46th minute. But Carlson allowed CN to pull even when she took a cross from junior Tamara Wurstle and put the past East goalie Bryn Eudy in the game at Richard Wigh Soccer Complex.
    Eudy finished with four saves.
In the JV game, freshman Kaitlyn Calandro and classmate Corrine Orben each scored goals to lift Columbus North to a 2-0 victory. Sophomore Elizabeth Craig's corner kick assisted Calandro in the 23rd minute. Junior Rachel Craig assisted Orben in the 50th minute. Freshman Liz Tynan made three saves while recording the shutout for the Bull Dogs.
Columbus North returns to action on Wednesday (Sept. 3) when it hosts Franklin Central in a Conference Indiana East Division game at the Wigh Complex. The JV game begins at 6 p.m., and the varsity follows at about 7:30 p.m.
