COLUMBUS, Ind. -- Sophomore Tristan Perry ran for one touchdown and passed for another Saturday (Aug. 30), leading the Columbus North JV football team to a 22-16 victory at Columbus East.
Trailing 16-14 after three quarters, Perry's 1-yard touchdown run gave the Bull Dogs a lead and sophomore Tucker Payne pushed the advantage to six points with a two-point conversion run.
The North JV moved to 2-0 with the triumph.
Columbus East took an 8-0 lead in the first quarter, but Perry put CN on the board in the second quarter when he connected with junior Wyatt Barkes on a 37-yard scoring pass.
The Olympians led 16-6 at the half, but the Bull Dogs pulled within two points in the third quarter when Tucker Payne tallied a 3-yard TD run and twin brother Tanner Payne added a two-point conversion.
That set the stage for the fourth quarter, where Perry's TD and Tucker Payne's conversion proved decisive.
The Columbus North JV team returns to action at 6 p.m. Monday (Sept. 9) when it hosts Bloomington North at Max Andress Field.
