August 27, 2014Columbus North High School
INDIANAPOLIS -- Seniors Makinsey Summa, Janelle Peters and Karen Wildemann each produced five kills Tuesday (Aug. 26), but it was not enough as the Columbus North volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Perry Meridian.
Wildemann added a team-high nine digs while classmate Alexa Pelley had seven digs as the Bull Dogs fell to 4-1 overall and 0-1 in Conference Indiana East Division matches with the 25-14, 25-19, 25-16 setback. The Falcons improved to 3-0 overall and 1-0 in CI division play.
Wildemann and Pelley each contributed two aces for CN, while Summa notched three blocks and sophomore Imani Guy had two blocks.
"I don't feel like our scores or stats reflect the way we played," Columbus North coach Caitlin Greiner said. "I saw some improvements on key skills we've been working on. Perry is a solid team, and I think at times we competed. It was a good indicator of where we are and what we need to improve on from now until October. Each of my girls had moments of success tonight."
At the JV level, Chase Leslie netted seven kills for the Bull Dogs, but Perry took that match 13-25, 25-14, 15-10. Kennedy Staggs notched 11 digs and Mackenzie Rooks had 10 digs for CN.
Columbus North returns to action on Thursday (Aug. 28) when it visits Heritage Christian. The JV match begins at 6:30 p.m., and the varsity follows about 7:30 p.m. There will be no "C Team" match that night.
