Columbus North places fourth in statewide all-sports listing

Columbus North placed fourth among Indiana high schools in the MaxPreps Cup standings for all sports success in 2013-14.
Similar to the Directors Cup competition among colleges, the MaxPreps Cup standings are compiled by giving schools points for finishing first or second at the state level, what level of competition and the sport.
Carmel was the top Indiana school with 832 points. The Greyhounds were followed by Avon with 497 points, Cathedral with 230 points, Columbus North with 224 points and Crown Point with 218 points.
Columbus North won the 2014 state championship in boys golf. CN placed second at state in boys golf, third in state in girls cross country and gymnastics and fourth in state in boys swimming. Girls track placed ninth in the state meet, and girls swimming placed 14th at state.
Nationally, Bentonville (Ark.) was first in the compilation with 1,120 points. Atlanta (Ga.) St. Pius Catholic was second with 985 points followed by Honolulu (Hawaii) Punahou with 980, Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas with 967 and Atlanta (Ga.) Marist with 918.
Carmel's total put it eighth in the national standings.
