Indiana All-Stars sweep Juniors at Columbus North

COLUMBUS, Ind. -- Trevon Bluiett of Park Tudor poured in 44 points and grabbed 12 rebounds Wednesday evening (June 11), leading the Indiana All-Stars to a 124-102 victory over the Junior All-Stars in Memorial Gym.
In front of a crowd of about 3,500 fans, Bluiett sank 19-of-26 shots, 2-of-7 3-pointers and 4-of-6 free throws en route to his game-high total as the All-Star boys completed a sweep of the Junior boys. The All-Stars prevailed 140-91 on Monday in Logansport.
James Blackmon Jr. of Marion contributed 28 points, while Jeremie Tyler of Indianapolis Tech tallied 16 points and Sean Sellers of Greensburg chipped in 12 points for the winners who again played without Mr. Basketball Trey Lyles of Tech and Mack Mercer of Plymouth. Bryant McIntosh of Greensburg contributed three points and a game-high seven assists.
Josh Speidel of Columbus North paced the Juniors with 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting, 1-of-2 3-pointers and 2-of-4 free throws. He also added seven rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Other double-figure scorers for the Juniors were Penn's Jordan Geist (13), East Chicago Central's Hyron Edwards (12), Scecina's Gary Bonds (11) and Ben Davis' Brennan Gillis (10). Bonds added a team-high eight rebounds, while Corydon Central's Bronson Kessinger had six points and three assists.
In the girls' game, the All-Star seniors overcame a 10-point deficit with about eight minutes to go to rally for a 73-71 victory. Two free throws by Danielle Cuttino of Ben Davis with 5.6 seconds to go provided the winning margin.
The Juniors hurried down the floor for a final shot, but they were unable to convert as the clock expired. That allowed the Seniors to salvage a split in the two games after the Juniors won 82-61 on Monday.
Miss Basketball Whitney Jennings of Logansport scored 17 points with three assists to lead the All-Star girls. Ana Owens of Lawrence North added 15 points, while Cuttino tallied 12 points and Destiny Washington had 10 points for the All-Stars. Tayler Goodall of Columbus North had two points, two rebounds and one steal.
Brittany Ward of Pike scored a team-high 15 points for the Junior girls. Ali Patberg of Columbus North produced 14 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals, while Jenna Allen of Bedford North Lawrence had 10 points and a game-high 12 rebounds.
All-Star officials were thrilled with the crowd, where fans from Columbus, Greensburg and Bedford clearly brought vocal contingents.
