Indian Creek softball tops Columbus North 2-1

    TRAFALGAR, Ind. -- Morgan Palmer doubled and Cheyenne Moneymaker singled her home in the bottom of the seventh inning Thursday (May 8), lifting the Indian Creek softball team to a 2-1 victory over visiting Columbus North.
    Dori Knight pitched a five-hitter and struck out eight for the Braves, who improved to 8-6.
    The hosts took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Knight singles and scored on a double by Sydney Williams.
    The Bull Dogs (11-8) tied the game in the top of the seventh when junior Kelsay Lucas doubled and scored on a single by junior Sheana Wasilewski.
    However, Palmer doubled in the bottom of the seventh, moved to third on a single by Kaylee Satter and then scored on a two-out single by Moneymaker.
    At the JV level, sophomore Katelyn Boroughs had two hits and sophomore Lillie Petro drove in two runs as Columbus North prevailed 8-4. Freshman Madisyn Prince pitched a complete game to earn the victory.
    Columbus North returns to action at 10 a.m. Saturday (May 10) when it travels to Whiteland for a doubleheader. The Bull Dogs follow by hosting Bloomington South at 6 p.m. Tuesday (May 13).
