Columbus North softball blanks Columbus East 10-0

    COLUMBUS, Ind. -- Senior Denisa Brooks had three hits and scored three runs Monday (April 21), sparking the Columbus North softball team to a 10-0 decision over rival Columbus East 10-0 in six innings.
    Brooks and sophomore Katie Prall each scored first-inning runs for a 2-0 lead that the Bull Dogs (5-4) extended with four runs in the fifth. The hosts then closed out the contest with four more runs in the sixth.
    Brooks and Prall each finished with three runs scored, while junior Kelsay Lucas stroked two doubles and senior Shannah Hercamp also had a double to highlight a 10-hit attack.
    Senior Grayson Harney pitched a complete game, allowing just four hits while improving to 1-1.
    In the JV game, sophomore Paige Deneve had two hits and scored two runs to help the Bull Dogs to an 8-2 victory. Junior Alex Luse added a double and two RBIs, while sophomore Elizabeth Bell scored three times. Freshman Madisyn Prince allowed just three hits while striking out eight over five innings.
    Columbus North returns to action at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday (April 22) at Franklin Central. CN follows by playing at 6 p.m. Wednesday (April 23) at East Central.
