Columbus North's Eaton places sixth in boys' Miracle Mile

    INDIANAPOLIS -- Senior Kaden Eaton raced to a sixth-place finish Friday night (April 18) in the boys' Miracle Mile as part of the Franklin Central Showcase track and field event.
    Eaton was timed in 4 minutes, 19.37 seconds, a little less than 5 seconds behind winner Joe Murphy of Lawrence North.
    Murphy posted a winning time of 4:14.69. Greenwood's David Dalton was second in 4:16.53 followed by LaPorte's Anthony Didion in 4:18.95, Zionsville's Oliver Rigg in 4:19.01 and Avon's Martin Presley in 4:19.07.
    Columbus North senior Mackenzie Caldwell placed ninth and sophomore teammate Sierra Lax was 17th in the girls' Miracle Mile. Caldwell was clocked in 5:03.46, while Lax had a time of 5:11.08.
    Carmel's Haley and Kelsey Harris finished 1-2 with respective marks of 4:58.72 and 4:58.99. Avon's Taylor Nicholson was third in 5:00.39 followed by Hamilton Southeastern's Rachel Nichwitz in 5:01.39 and Bloomington North's Kate Raphael in 5:01.86.
    The Bull Dogs' Elijah Brooks placed 25th in the boys' freshman mile in 4:49.87. South Adams' freshman Bailey McIntire won that race in 4:32.44.
    In other events, Bellmont won the girls' 4x400 in 4:03.23 and the girls' 4x800 in 9:28.16. Noblesville prevailed in the boys' 4x400 in 3:22.42, and Westfield captured the boys' 4x800 in 8:01.18.
