Columbus North girls tennis tops Columbus East 3-2

    COLUMBUS, Ind. -- Senior Sara Vanderkolk and junior Sydney Anderson completed a win at No. 1 doubles Wednesday (April 16) in a suspended match from Monday (April 14), giving Columbus North the decisive point in a 3-2 girls' tennis victory at Columbus East.
    Vanderkolk and Anderson defeated Columbus East's Alexa Husmann-Miller/Susana Blanco 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 to help CN, ranked 17th in the latest coaches' poll, improve to 3-2.
    The No. 22 Olympians dropped to 1-2.
    Junior Meagan Olibo prevailed at No. 3 singles and classmates Rosemary Yonushonis and Brooke Richardson won at No. 2 doubles in matches that were completed Monday before rain halted the competition.
    Sophomore Paige Littrell dropped her match at No. 2 singles on Monday.
    Freshman Aubrey Smith was in the second set at No. 1 singles when her match was halted Monday. Columbus East senior Ashlee Hasson defeated Smith 6-2, 6-4 in the match that was completed Wednesday.
    The Bull Dogs return to action at 5:30 p.m. Thursday (April 17) when they host No. 10 Bloomington North in their first Conference Indiana match of the season.
