Columbus North baseball tops Hauser 11-1

COLUMBUS, Ind. -- Sophomore Brice McDaniel smacked a two-run double to highlight a seven-run fourth inning Monday (April 14), leading the Columbus North baseball team to an 11-1 victory over Hauser.
Freshman Nathan VanDeventer pitched a five-inning one-hitter for the Bull Dogs, who improved to 4-0-1. The only hit he allowed was a third-inning double by the Jets' Colten Wieler.
McDaniel and junior Evan Finke each went 2-for-2, while senior Will Dorenbusch was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Junior Devin Mann went 1-for-2 with three runs scored, including the game-winner on the second after walking, stealing second and come around on a groundout to right field by sophomore Canaan Baum.
Columbus North led 2-0 after three innings when Hauser cut it to 2-1 in the fourth. The Bull Dogs pushed the count to 9-1 in the fourth, then closed out the contest with a two-run fifth inning.
The Bull Dogs return to action at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday (April 15) when they host Franklin.
