CN's Speidel chosen to 2014 boys' Junior All-Stars

Columbus North junior Josh Speidel has been selected to the Indiana Junior All-Stars for 2014.
A 6-8 forward, Speidel averaged team highs of 17.2 points, 9.3 rebounds and 2.9 assists in leading the Bull Dogs to a 20-6 record in the 2013-14 season.
For the season, Speidel made 56 percent of his shots from the field while converting 66 percent of his free throws. He also surpassed 1,000 points during the season and appears poised to set the school record for career scoring as a senior.
For the Junior All-Stars, Speidel was selected to the six-player core group that will play four games -- two against the Kentucky Junior All-Stars on June 6 and June 7 and two more against the Indiana Senior All-Stars on June 9 and June 11.
The June 6 game will be played at Scecina High School in Indianapolis, girls at 5 p.m. and boys to follow. The June 7 game will be played at a site in Lexington, Ky., girls at 5 p.m. and boys to follow.
The sites and starting times for the June 9 and June 11 will be announced later.
Speidel will be joined guard Ryan Cline of Carmel, forward Davon Dillard of Bowman Academy, guard Hyron Edwards of East Chicago Central, guard Jordan Geist of Penn and guard/forward K.J. Walton of Brownsburg on the core group.
Players on the North group (who will join the core group for one game against Kentucky and one game against the Indiana Seniors) are guard Ryan Fazekas of Marquette Catholic, guard Drew Hackett of Munster, forward Matt Holba of Guerin Catholic, guard Sean McDermott of Pendleton Heights, guard/forward Chris Palombizio of Chesterton and guard/forward Tahjai Teague of Pike.
Players on the South group (who will join the core group for the other game against Kentucky and the other game against the Indiana Seniors) are forward Gary Bonds of Indianapolis Scecina, guard Harris Brown of Indianapolis Howe, forward Adam Eberhard of Evansville Memorial, forward Brennan Gillis of Ben Davis, forward Bronson Kessinger of Corydon Central and guard Joel Okafor of Richmond.
Jamie Kolkmeier of Corydon Central will be the head coach of the Junior All-Stars. He will be assisted by Chad Ballenger of Hamilton Heights and Brent Keck of Perry Meridian.
The Indiana Senior All-Stars will play their annual series against Kentucky on June 13 in Lexington and June 14 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
Speidel is the second CN athlete to be chosen to the Junior All-Stars for 2014. Two weeks ago, Bull Dogs junior Ali Patberg was picked for the girls' Junior All-Stars. Also, CN senior Tayler Goodall has been chosen to the 2014 girls' Senior All-Stars.
