Columbus North ranked second in 2014 boys golf preseason poll

    Columbus North has been ranked second in the 2014 high school boys golf preseason rankings issued by the Indiana High School Golf Coaches Association.
    The Bull Dogs return three players -- seniors Michael VanDeventer, Christian Fairbanks and Nick Waskom -- from the five-man unit that placed second in the 2013 IHSAA state finals.
    They were joined by 2013 graduates Ian Smith and Jake Coffey the team's lineup at the '13 finals.
    Looking to break into CN's top five for 2014 are senior Tanner Bennett, senior Zack Lee, senior Ian Coffey, junior Kyung Kim, junior Conner Hayes and junior Connor Opalka.
    Westfield won the 2013 state championship, and the Shamrocks are rated first in the 2014 preseason poll through votes of an 18-member panel of coaches. Columbus North is ranked second followed by Hamilton Southeastern, Noblesville and Fort Wayne Dwenger.
    Conference Indiana-rival Bloomington South is 14th in the preseason poll.
