Goodall named MVP of Columbus North girls basketball for 2013-14

    Columbus North senior Tayler Goodall was named MVP of the Bull Dogs' 2013-14 girls' basketball team at the team banquet Tuesday evening (March 11).
    Goodall, who averaged 16.3 points, 5.6 rebounds, a team-best 3.1 steals while sinking a school-record 73 3-pointers, was one of seven players to receive special presentations in the season-ending gathering held in the banquet room of the Hilton Garden Inn.
    Seniors Kelsey Cunningham and Emmy Schabel as well as juniors Ali Patberg, Debie Gedeon, Sydney Patberg and Sheyanne Street  also were recipients of special awards for a Bull Dogs' squad that finished its season with a 23-3 record and ranked third in the final regular-season polls.
    Cunningham was recognized as winner of the Bull Dog Award, while Schabel was presented a Senior Award. Ali Patberg received the Outstanding Participant Award, while Gedeon was the winner of the Most Improved Award. Sydney Patberg was presented the Spirit Award. Street was the recipient of the Martha Kalb Memorial Award, which goes to a JV player who displays characteristics of determination, teamwork, persistence and heart.
    Cunningham averaged 9.7 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.9 assists, while Schabel averaged 1.3 points and 1.1 rebounds in helping the Bull Dogs to sectional and Conference Indiana championships.
    Ali Patberg posted team-highs of 18.3 points, 7.1 rebounds and 5.9 assists; she also set school records for assists in a game (12 against Southport), assists in a season (148) and assists in a career (358).
    Sydney Patberg was a contributor to the Bull Dogs' 16-0 JV squad, while Street paced the JV team with a 12.0 scoring average while sinking 54 percent of her 3-point attempts (45-of-83) in JV games.
    The Columbus North "C Team" finished its season with a 14-0 record. Collectively, the CN teams went 53-3.
    Earlier in the day, Ali Patberg was notified that she has been selected to the Indiana Junior All-Stars. Also, Ali Patberg and sophomore Paige Littrell received invitations on Tuesday to participate in the IBCA Top 100 Showcase in July.
    Other honors, including all-Conference Indiana, All-Area and several all-state recognitions, have yet to be released.
