CN's Patberg chosen an IBCA/Subway Player of the Week
January 28, 2014Columbus North High School
Columbus North junior Ali Patberg was chosen one of the IBCA/Subway Players of the Week after she posted a triple-double in one game and nearly had another in a second game.
The 5-10 Patberg was honored in girls' District 3 after she tallied 10 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists as the Bull Dogs defeated Franklin 74-32. The Notre Dame commit then produced 27 points, nine rebounds and eight assists as CN outlasted Bloomington South 59-51 later in the week and improved to 15-2 for the season.
Over both games, Patberg sank 11-of-23 shots and 15-of-21 free throws.
Hammond Noll senior Larry Crisler, Marion senior James Blackmon Jr., Madison junior Nick Macon, Oregon-Davis senior Ashley Campbell and Southmont senior Alexa McKinsey joined Patberg as Week 11 recipients (Jan. 20-25) in the recognition program overseen by the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association.
This is the third time over three seasons that Patberg has been recognized as an IBCA Player of the Week. She was cited for the first time late in her freshman season. Her second honor came early in her sophomore season.
This is the sixth season for the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association Player of the Week program and the second season it is presented by Subway Restaurants of Indiana, a banner sponsor of the IBCA. Subway, in its fourth season as an IBCA sponsor, encourages athletes to "train hard and eat fresh."
Player of the Week winners are chosen each week from each of the IHSAA's three districts. Girls winners will be chosen from now through the week following March 8. Boys winners will be chosen from now through the week following March 29.
