Columbus North girls soccer advances to sectional final

COLUMBUS, Ind -- Freshman Natalie Teo scored a pair of goals Thursday evening (Oct. 10), sparking the Columbus North girls soccer team to a 4-0 victory over Seymour in the semifinals of the Columbus North Sectional at Richard Wigh Soccer Complex.
Senior Gabby Sims added a goal and an assist for the Bull Dogs (13-4-0), who advanced to the sectional final against Columbus East (14-2-1) at 7 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 12). The Class 2A co-No. 20 Olympians earned their spot in the final with an 8-0 thrashing of Scottsburg in the first semifinal.
Sims opened the scoring for Columbus North against Seymour, converting a feed from freshman Addy Lang to beat Owls junior goalkeeper Kelly Sharp in the 11th minute.
Teo made it 2-0 in the 12th minute, Lang being credited with her second assist of the evening.
Junior Emma Risley pushed CN's advantage to 3-0 in the first minute of the second half, senior Kenadie Carlson setting up the play.
Teo added one more goal in the 51st minute, converting a Sims corner kick, to complete the scoring.
Freshman Charlotte Verbanic recorded the shutout for the Bull Dogs, making one save.
Seymour finished its season with a 9-6-2 record.
