Columbus North boys soccer wins Conference Indiana

COLUMBUS, Ind. -- Seniors Parker Hirsch and Keaton Voegerl each tallied a goal and an assist Friday night (Sept. 27), sparking the Columbus North boys soccer team to a 4-2 victory over Perry Meridian and the Conference Indiana championship.
The decision at Richard Wigh Soccer Complex moved the Class 2A No. 1 Bull Dogs to 12-0-1 overall and allowed them to finish CI play at 5-0-0.
Hirsch put Columbus North on the board in the 15th minute, converting a feed from Voegerl. Senior Riley Belding extended CN's advantage to 2-0 in the 38th minute off an assist from senior Andre Abedian.
Voegerl scored early in the second half with Hirsch earning the assist.
Perry Meridian rallied with a pair of goals in the second half, Noah Nash scoring in the 50th minute and Sang Uk adding another in the 66th minute.
However, Columbus North sealed the outcome when junior Ed Meyer scored an unassisted goal in the game's final minute.
Senior Matt Verplank played the first half in goal, allowing no goals and making no saves. Senior Ben Davis played the second half in the nets, yielding two goals and making one save.
Columbus North returns to action at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday (Oct. 1) when it hosts Seymour at the Wigh Compex. The Bull Dogs follow by hosting Fort Wayne Canterbury next Friday (Oct. 4) at the Wigh Complex.
