August 26, 2013Columbus North High School
Sophomore Sean Dasovich scored one touchdown and added two two-point conversions Saturday (Aug. 24), sparking the Columbus North JV football team to a 22-0 victory at Plainfield.
Dasovich scored on a 5-yard touchdown run to give the Bull Dogs a 12-0 lead, then added two points when he caught a conversion pass from sophomore quarterback Wyatt Barkes.
Dasovich later added a two-point run after Barkes produced a 25-yard TD jaunt.
Columbus North opened the scoring when sophomore Tyler Wang dashed 60 yards for a touchdown. The extra point, however, was no good following that score.
The CN defense also played well, forcing a pair of turnovers -- an interception by sophomore Lenny Cuatzo and a fumble recovery by junior Sean Kirchman.
In the freshman game at Columbus North, Tanner Payne ran for one touchdown and threw for two more as the Bull Dogs prevailed 34-8.
Mitchell Burton also added a 48-yard TD run and Tucker Payne, Tanner's twin brother, contributed a 38-yard scoring run for the Columbus North rookies.
Tanner Payne put CN on the board when he passed 10 yards to Harley Huser for a score. Later, Tanner Payne added a 10-yard TD run and a 4-yard TD pass to Cameron Wilson.
Misael Garcia chipped in four extra points.
Both the Columbus North JV and freshmen return to action next Saturday (Aug. 31).
