Columbus North's Shaw signs to play soccer at Indiana University
March 6, 2013
Columbus North High School Columbus North senior Brad Shaw has signed a national letter of intent to play soccer at Indiana University.
Shaw, who led the Bull Dogs to the Class 2A boys state championship last fall, scored a team-best 42 points on 17 goals and eight assists in the 2012 season. He scored the only goal in CN's 1-0 victory over Warsaw for the state championship.
At IU, Shaw will join a Hoosiers program that won the 2012 NCAA championship and includes former Columbus North players Matt McKain and Dylan Lax on its roster.
“I’m really excited that Brad is getting the opportunity to play with two other Columbus North alumni in Dylan Lax and Matt McKain,” CN coach Andy Glover told The Republic. “I think it’s a fantastic opportunity for Brad. He’s entering a championship environment where expectations are high and performance levels are high, and that’s the type of environment Brad’s proven to thrive in.”
Shaw said he chose Indiana over Louisville, Xavier and Indianapolis among other soccer opportunities. He also had offers to play college rugby from Arkansas, Arizona State and Lindenwood (Mo.).
Shaw is the eighth member of the CN's Class of 2013 to finalize his college choice.
