Columbus North boys basketball draws bye to sectional semifinal

The Columbus North boys basketball team drew a first-round bye and will open Class 4A Sectional 14 play at home at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March. 1.
Pairings were drawn on Sunday (Feb. 17) by the Indiana High School Athletic Association.
The No. 2 Bull Dogs (20-1) will face the winner between Shelbyville (6-13) and Columbus East (12-6) in the second semifinal game.
Bloomington North (11-8) also drew a bye to the semifinals. The Cougars will play either Bloomington South (9-10) or East Central (12-9) in the 6 p.m. semifinal on March 1.
Bloomington South, the defending sectional champion, and East Central will play the first sectional game at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26. Shelbyville and Columbus East will follow the same night.
The sectional championship game will be at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 2.
The sectional winner will advance to the Seymour Regional on March 9. There, the CN Sectional winner will face the winner of the Center Grove Sectional in the first game. Winners of the Seymour and Evansville North sectionals will play in the second game. The regional final will be later on March 9.
The semistate will be on March 16 at either Seymour or Richmond. The state finals will be March 23 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
Tickets for the sectional are $6 per session or $9 for an all-session pass. All-session tickets will be available in advance at participating schools. Single-session tickets will be available at the door at Columbus North on the night of games.
Columbus North was runner-up in the 2012 sectional.
