Home » Girls' Basketball NewsColumbus North girls top Bloomington North 60-46 in sectional semifinalFebruary 9, 2013 Columbus North High School COLUMBUS, Ind. -- Junior Tayler Goodall scored 18 points to lead three players in double figures Friday evening (Feb. 8), leading the Columbus North girls basketball team to a 60-46 victory over Bloomington North in a Sectional 14 semifinal at Columbus East.
Junior Kelsey Cunningham added 14 points and sophomore Ali Patberg contributed 12 points for the Bull Dogs, who improved to 24-0 and moved into the sectional final at 7:30 p.m. Saturday (Feb. 9) against Bloomington South. The Panthers (15-7) advanced with a 50-13 decision over Shelbyville (3-18).
Senior Shai Warfield-Cross netted 20 points to lead the Cougars (9-13).
Goodall scored seven points in the second quarter as Columbus North used an 18-6 surge to take a 27-14 lead at intermission. Junior Emmy Schabel contributed six points in the period, while Cunningham had three points and Patberg had two points.
Goodall tallied nine points in the third quarter and senior Hanna Ballard scored five as CN pushed its edge to 47-31 at the third stop.
The Bull Dogs continued to extend their advantage the a good part of the fourth quarter, leading by as many as 23, before the Bloomington North made a late rally to cut into the final margin.
Columbus North, seeking its second consecutive sectional crown and 15th overall, will face Bloomington South on Saturday for the second time this season. On Jan. 18, the Bull Dogs defeated the Panthers 52-32 in Bloomington.
