Home » Boys' Basketball NewsColumbus North defeats Whiteland 65-50 in boys basketballFebruary 1, 2013 Columbus North High School WHITELAND, Ind. -- Senior Sawyer Glick scored 15 points to pace three players in double figures Saturday night (Jan. 26), leading the Class 4A No. 4 Columbus North boys basketball team to a 65-50 victory at Whiteland.
Senior Clint Cunningham added 14 points and sophomore Josh Speidel chipped in 12 points for the Bull Dogs, who improved to 16-1 while winning their 12th game in a row. Junior Evan Henry contributed nine points and junior Elliott Welmer netted eight in a balanced attack.
Senior Dejan Davis scored 17 points and junior John Hubler had 16 points to lead the Warriors (6-10).
The teams battled throughout the first half with Whiteland taking a 28-27 edge at intermission. The Bull Dogs used a strong third quarter to take a 44-36 lead, then the visitors pulled away throughout the fourth quarter to seal the decision.
Columbus North also won the JV game 65-38. Sophomore Trent Larson poured in a game-high 29 points to lead the Bull Dogs. Sophomore Kooper Glick tallied 12 points and sophomore Marquis Humes netted 10 points. Jacob Stidham led Whiteland with 10 points.
In the freshman game, Aaron Eblen scored 12 points and Tom Purdie had six points as Whiteland defeated Columbus North 49-37. Collin Lollar tallied a game-high 16 points and Drew Schoeberl netted 12 points for the Bull Dogs.
Columbus North returns to action next Friday (Feb. 1) at Bloomington South. The JV game begins at 6 p.m., and the varsity follows about 7:30 p.m. The CN freshman visit Bloomington South at 6 p.m. Monday (Jan. 28), then host their annual four-team invitational at 9 a.m. Saturday (Feb. 2).
