Home » Boys' Basketball NewsColumbus North boys basketball rolls past Southport 78-39January 25, 2013 Columbus North High School COLUMBUS, Ind. -- Junior Evan Henry scored 17 points to pace four player in double figures Friday night (Jan. 25), leading the Class 4A No. 4 Columbus North boys basketball team to a 78-39 rout of Southport.
Seniors Sawyer Glick and Connor Oren each added 14 points for the Bull Dogs, who improved to 15-1 overall and 4-1 in Conference Indiana. Senior Tori Jackson contributed 10 points and a game-high 11 rebounds, while junior Elliott Welmer had eight points and eight rebounds.
Senior Quinton Sanders scored 13 points and sophomore Malik Bennett netted 12 points to pace the Cardinals (0-11, 0-5).
Columbus North was sluggish through the first half in building a 24-15 lead at intermission. But the Bull Dogs took command with a 22-11 third quarter, then dropped the hammer on the visitors with a 32-13 edge over the final eight minutes.
CN also won both sub-varsity games.
Junior Christian Glass scored 19 points and sophomore Vince Grana tallied eight points as Columbus North won the JV game 52-41. Junior Andrew Herner topped Southport with 14 points.
In the freshman game, Collin Lollar and Alex Algee each scored eight points to lead the Bull Dogs to a 36-18 decision. Drew Schoeberl chipped in six points and Payton Kelsay had five for CN. Chandler McGail, Justin Herring and Evan Higgs each scored five points for the Cardinals.
Columbus North returns to action on Saturday (Jan. 26) when it visits Whiteland. JV and freshman games each begin at 6 p.m., and the varsity follows the JV about 7:30 p.m.
