Home » Boys' Basketball NewsColumbus North boys basketball beats Perry Meridian 68-52January 21, 2013 Columbus North High School INDIANAPOLIS -- Sophomore Josh Speidel scored 18 points to lead three players in double figures Saturday night (Jan. 19), sparking the Class 4A No. 5 Columbus North boys basketball team to a 68-52 victory at Perry Meridian.
Junior Evan Henry added 14 points and senior Sawyer Glick chipped in 10 points for the Bull Dogs, who captured their 10th victory in a row while improving to 14-1 overall and 3-1 in Conference Indiana. Senior Clint Cunningham contributed nine points, junior Elliott Welmer tallied eight points and senior Paul Salee had seven points.
Junior Curtis Green Jr. scored 15 points to pace the Falcons (8-5, 1-3). Junior Anthony Hardy netted 11 points and junior Collin Timmons had 10 points.
The teams battled through numerous lead changes throughout the first half before Columbus North took a 24-23 edge at intermission. The Bull Dogs roared to a 50-36 lead at the third stop, then pushed their advantage to 62-42 in the final period before settling for the 16-point victory.
CN showed a deft shooting touch for the second consecutive night, making 64 percent from the field (25 of 39). On Friday, the Bull Dogs sank 69 percent from the floor on 37-of-57 accuracy in an 88-57 win at Madison.
Columbus North also won the JV game 48-34. Sophomore Trent Larson poured in a game-high 25 points for the Bull Dogs, while classmate Kooper Glick added nine points. Jackson Gambrall scored 12 points and Andrew Robinson had 10 points for Perry Meridian.
In the freshman game, Dylan Ross scored 12 points to lead the Falcons to a 35-34 decision. Collin Lollar netted a game-high 20 points and Alex Algee tallied six for the Bull Dogs.
Columbus North returns to action on Friday (Jan. 25) when it hosts Southport in another CI encounter. JV and freshman games begin at 6 p.m., and the varsity follows the JV about 7:30 p.m.
