Home » Girls' Basketball NewsColumbus North girls basketball defeats FranklinJanuary 15, 2013 Columbus North High School FRANKLIN, Ind. -- Junior Kelsey Cunningham scored 11 points to lead a balanced attack Tuesday evening (Jan. 15), sparking the Class 4A No. 1 Columbus North girls basketball team to a 63-18 victory at Franklin.
Sophomores Ali Patberg, Hannah Poindexter and Megan Bandy each contributed eight points for the Bull Dogs (19-0). Junior Tayler Goodall chipped in seven points while senior Hanna Ballard netted six and sophomore Macy Wingham had four.
Senior Kylie Whittington and freshman Whitney Shapp each scored four points to lead the Lady Cubs (6-10).
Patberg and Ballard each scored six points while Goodall had five as Columbus North jumped to a 22-7 lead in the first quarter. Cunningham scored six points in the second quarter as the Bull Dogs pushed their edge to 34-11 at the half. Poindexter scored four and Schabel three in the third quarter, while Bandy scored all eight of her points in the final period as CN closed out the decision.
Columbus North also won the JV game 40-26. Freshman Paige Littrell scored eight points, while sophomores Debie Gedeon and Sheyanne Street each tallied six to pace the Bull Dogs (13-0). Sophomore Elizabeth Berrones scored seven points and freshman Caitlin Booe had six to lead Franklin.
Columbus North returns to action on Friday (Jan. 18) when it visits Bloomington South for a Conference Indiana tripleheader. JV and freshman games begin at 6 p.m., and the varsity follows the JV about 7:30 p.m.
CN's next home game is next Tuesday (Jan. 22) against Whiteland.
