Home » Girls' Basketball NewsColumbus North freshmen girls basketball tops Martinsville 24-17December 17, 2012 Columbus North High School COLUMBUS, Ind. -- Kara Linn scored six of her game-high eight points in the first quarter Monday evening (Dec. 17), leading the Columbus North freshman girls basketball team to a 24-17 victory over Martinsville in the Bill Stearman Athletic Complex.
Emily Kim added six points and Allison Bates chipped in five for the Bull Dogs, who improved to 4-1 at the freshman level. Lauren Jines and Lauren Imlay each contributed two points and Delaney Coles had one for CN.
Maggi Bolin scored six points to top Martinsville. Alyssa Pickens had four for the Artesians.
Linn and Kim combined to score 10 points in the first quarter as the Bull Dogs took a 10-7 lead. Bates scored five in the second quarter as the hosts pushed their edge to 15-9 at the half.
CN led 18-13 after three quarters, and baskets by Kim and Jines plus two Imlay free throws sealed the decision in the final period.
The Bull Dog freshmen are back in action Wednesday (Dec. 19) as part of a tripleheader at Columbus East. JV and freshmen games begin at 6 p.m., while the varsity follows the JV about 7:30 p.m.
