Home » Girls' Basketball NewsColumbus North tops Seymour 67-42 in girls basketballDecember 11, 2012 Columbus North High School SEYMOUR, Ind. -- Sophomore Ali Patberg scored 20 points to pace three players in double figures Tuesday evening (Dec. 11), sparking the Columbus North girls basketball team to a 67-42 victory over host Seymour.
Junior Tayler Goodall added 12 points and classmate Kelsey Cunningham added 11 for the Class 4A No. 2 Bull Dogs, who improved to 7-0 for the season. Freshman Paige Littrell contributed nine points, while senior Hanna Ballard had five.
Senior Taylor Gossett led the Owls (4-5) with 13 points.
Littrell scored all her points in the first quarter while Goodall and Ballard each netted five as Columbus North took a 22-19 lead. The Bull Dogs roared in the second quarter, Patberg scoring 11, Goodall seven and Cunningham four as the visitors picked up the defensive intensity and that turned into a 46-25 halftime advantage.
Patberg and Cunningham each converted third-quarter opportunities as Columbus North pushed the count to 59-34 after three. Sophomore Macy Wingham, Cunningham, sophomore Jessica Wagers and sophomore Hannah Poindexter combined to close the scoring as the teams played even in the fourth quarter.
Columbus North rallied for a 37-32 victory in the JV game. Sophomore Megan Bandy paced the Bull Dogs with 11 points as CN overcame a 22-13 halftime deficit. Wingham tallied seven points, while Wagers and freshman Emma Ballard each added five points. Kaylee Bauserman topped Seymour with seven points.
The Bull Dogs return to action on Saturday when they host Lawrence Central in a Conference Indiana encounter. The JV game begins at 1 p.m., and the varsity will follow about 2:30 p.m.
