James selected MVP of Columbus North girls soccer team

Senior Elizabeth James was recognized as MVP of the Columbus North girls soccer team on Monday evening (Nov. 19) at the squad's season-ending awards banquet.
James, a goalkeeper bound for the University of Dayton, posted a 1.30 goals against average and eight shutouts for the 8-8-3 Bull Dogs.
Other honorees included senior Michelle Amlung, junior Kenadie Carlson, senior Malissa Hofmeister, sophomore Emma Risley, sophomore Micah Shoaf and senior Morgan Proffitt.
Amlung was selected winner of the team's Bull Dog Award, while Carlson was chosen the offensive player of the year. Hofmeister was defensive player of the year, while Risley was cited as the team's most improved player.
Amlung netted one goal and two assists, while Carlson was the team's leading scorer with 12 goals and five assists. Hofmeister also had one goal and two assists, while Risley had one goal and four assists.
Shoaf received accolades as MVP of the JV team, while Proffitt was presented an outstanding achievement award. Proffitt, a Marquette recruit, totaled three goals and one assist while playing in just three games because of an off-season knee injury.
Earlier, James, Amlung and Carlson were selected first-team all-Conference Indiana. Hofmeister and junior Gabby Sims were chosen honorable mention all-conference.
James also was recognized as a second-team all-state player and Carlson was chosen third-team all-state by the Indiana Soccer Coaches Association.
James, Amlung, Hofmeister and Proffitt were honored as team captains.
Those earning varsity letters were seniors Michelle Amlung, Ellen Hacker, Rachel Hart, Malissa Hofmeister, Elizabeth James, Evelyn Malcolm, Kaci Tompkins and Emily Resnick; juniors Hannah Bailey, Kenadie Carlson, Gabby Sims and Sara Vanderkolk; sophomores Claire Chambers, Riley Perry, Emma Risley, Olivia Stewart and LauraAnne Watanabe; and freshman Katie Carlson.
Recognized as JV players were juniors Kaydee Akins, Autumn Elkins and Haley Meek; sophomores Lauren Britt, Libby Cutler, Kyra Dasovich, Gabby Kline, Elizabeth Price, Juanita Ramos, Micah Shoaf and Maddie Swaim; and freshmen Olivia Brown, Alexandra Beach, Dianna Knox, Emma Lavelle and Kennedy Ward.
