Home » Boys' Basketball NewsPark Tudor outscores Columbus North in boys basketball scrimmageNovember 18, 2012 Columbus North High School INDIANAPOLIS -- Three players scored in double figures Saturday night (Nov. 17), but it was not enough as the Columbus North boys basketball team was outscored by Park Tudor in a scrimmage in the Panthers' gym.
Although the scoreboard was reset to 0-0 to start each period, sophomore Josh Speidel scored 14 points to pace the Bull Dogs, who fell 71-53 when the four varsity quarters were totaled. Senior Tori Jackson and junior Evan Henry each added 12 points, while junior Elliott Welmer contributed seven points.
Trevon Bluiett scored 26 points to lead Park Tudor. Alex Mack dropped in 20 points and Austin Shelton had 17 for the host Panthers, who posted advantages of 20-15, 16-13 and 24-10 over the first three quarters. The Bull Dogs rallied to prevail 15-11 in the final quarter.
Each quarter was a 12-minute running clock with specific defensive rules.
Speidel and senior Sawyer Glick each grabbed five rebounds and dealt four assists to lead CN in both categories. Speidel also made two steals.
Columbus North opens its season on Saturday (Nov. 24) when it travels to Hauser. The JV game will begin about 6 p.m., and the varsity will follow about 7:30 p.m.
The CN freshman team begins its season at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26 when it visits Bloomington North.
