Home » Girls' Basketball NewsColumbus North girls basketball rallies to edge Franklin Central 43-42November 17, 2012 Columbus North High School COLUMBUS, Ind. -- Sophomore Ali Patberg scored 13 of her game-high 25 points in the fourth quarter and junior Tayler Goodall sank a huge 3-pointer Friday night (Nov. 16), lifting the Columbus North girls basketball team to a 43-42 victory over visiting Franklin Central.
The Bull Dogs improved to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in Conference Indiana.
Junior Abbey Titzer scored 11 points to pace the Flashes, who dropped to 2-1 and 0-1.
Franklin Central claimed a 20-14 edge at the half, and the visitors extended their lead to 32-25 at the third stop. They pushed their advantage to 38-27 early in the fourth quarter, but Columbus North rallied down the stretch with Patberg scoring 11 points and freshman Elle Williams two to draw the hosts within 39-38 in the final minute.
Goodall then drained a 3-pointer from the left wing for CN's first lead since the first quarter. Patberg followed with a blocked shot of FC freshman Sydney Huffman, pulled in the rebound and got fouled.
Patberg hit both free throws with 8.2 seconds left for a four-point edge before Huffman sank a 3-pointer with 0.3 remaining to account for the final score.
Columbus North won both the JV and freshman games for a sweep of the tripleheader.
Sophomore Macy Wingham scored nine points and classmate Debie Gedeon tallied eight as the Columbus North JV team won 40-14. Sophomore Sheyanne Street added six points, and classmate Jessica Wagers chipped in four. Freshman Delaney Thompson scored a game-high 10 points for Franklin Central.
In the freshman game, Emily Kim scored 10 points and Kara Linn chipped in nine as CN prevailed 46-9. Lauren Imlay added eight points and Makayla Caudill had five as the Bull Dogs had 12 of 14 players score in the contest. Michaela Sherrill topped the Flashes with five points.
Columbus North returns to action on Tuesday (Nov. 20) when it hosts Shelbyville. The JV game begins at 6 p.m. and the varsity will follow about 7:30 p.m. There is no freshman game.
The next freshman game is at 6 p.m. Nov. 26 when it hosts Roncalli.
