Xi chosen MVP of Columbus North boys tennis

Senior Ernest Xi was honored as MVP of the Columbus North boys tennis team as the squad's season-ending gathering on Oct. 30.
Xi, who was selected second-team all-state in doubles, amassed a 17-6 in the 2012 season for a team that went 16-4 and claimed a sectional championship.
Junior Luke Red was the winner of the Bull Dog Award. Red went 6-3 in singles, 13-3 in doubles and joined Xi as second-team all-state in doubles.
Freshman Aditiya Mantri was honored as winner of the team's Sportsmanship Award. Mantri posted a 16-3 record in doubles.
Xi and Red were recognized as team captains, while they were among 12 athletes who received varsity letters.
Other letter winners were senior Pascal Lee; juniors Nick Littrell, Kamal Maharjan and Krishan Narsinghani; sophomores Jake Likens, Mitchell Miller and Anthony Sanders; and freshmen Rahul Jha, Kevin Luo and Mantri.
Those recognized as JV team members were juniors Erick Bernal, Sam Heale, Stephen Malburg, Adam Thomas and Nick Zacharias; sophomores Nick Burch, Michael Freed, Christopher George and Blake Helton; and freshmen Harrison Kirsch, Daniel Larken and Logan Palmer.
At season’s end, Sanders was selected honorable mention all-state in singles in addition to the doubles honors for Xi and Red. Earlier, all three players received first-team all-District 4 accolades.
