Home » Athletics NewsBloomington South, Columbus North lead CI all-sports racesOctober 18, 2012 Columbus North High School Bloomington South and Columbus North are leaders through fall sports in the Conference Indiana all-sports competition for 2012-13.
Bloomington South has 27.5 points for a narrow lead over Perry Meridian (27.0) in the girls' all-sports standings through four fall sports -- golf, cross country, soccer and volleyball.
The Panthers used a first-place effort in golf plus a tie for second in volleyball, a third in golf and a tie for fourth in volleyball to take the lead.
The Falcons were first in volleyball, tied for first in soccer, third in golf and seventh in cross country to stand just behind.
Other schools' point totals in girls sports are Columbus North (23.5), Bloomington North (22.0), Pike (21.0), Franklin Central (15.5), Lawrence Central (11.0) and Southport (8.5).
Columbus North has amassed 29.33 points in boys' sports to hold the top position through four sports. The Bull Dogs placed first in cross country, second in soccer, tied for second in tennis and tied for third in football for their total.
Bloomington South is second in the boys' race with 27.0 points. The Panthers have placed first in tennis, first in soccer, third in cross country and eighth in football.
Rounding out the boys' sports standings are Lawrence Central (25.0), Pike (16.5), Bloomington North (15.33), Perry Meridian (14.83), Southport (14.5) and Franklin Central (13.5).
The all-sports competitions will continue through winter and spring sports.
Winter sports for boys are basketball, swimming and wrestling. Winter sports for girls are basketball, swimming and gymnastics.
Spring sports for boys are baseball, track & field and golf. Spring sports for girls are softball, track & field and tennis.
Columbus North won the all-sports titles for boys sports and girls sports in 2011-12.
