INDIANAPOLIS -- Sophomore Janelle Peters notched six kills and classmate Makinsey Summa added four Tuesday evening (Sept. 11), but it was not enough as the Columbus North volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision at Perry Meridian.
Junior Devon Roese produced two aces while junior Tessa Krempel had seven digs for the Bull Dogs, who fell to 3-10 overall and 0-5 in Conference Indiana with the 25-12, 25-13, 25-17 setback.
"Perry Meridian is a good team with solid fundamentals," CN coach Caitlin Greiner said. "We came out intimidated and let them control the pace of the match. Unfortunately, we put ourselves into a hole that we were unable to pull out of."
The Falcons also won the JV and freshman matches.
PM took the JV match 25-6, 25-4, although Columbus North had no serving errors.
Perry claimed the freshman match 25-15, 25-14. Shayla Beard paced the CN rookies with five kills, while Sydney Talkington had five assists and Rachel Copeland provided three aces. Also, Delaney Maddix led the defense with eight digs.
Columbus North returns to action at 7 p.m. Thursday (Sept. 13) when it travels to Class 3A No. 6 Brownstown Central for a second chance at the Braves after falling to them 2-0 in the Jennings County Invitational. The Bull Dogs follow by competing Saturday (Sept. 15) in the New Albany Invitational against New Albany, Jasper, Jeffersonville and a cross-pool match against one of the following four -- Floyd Central, Castle, Silver Creek or Brownstown Central.
