Columbus North-Franklin Central football game suspended

COLUMBUS, Ind. -- The Columbus North-Franklin Central football game was suspended in the middle of the second quarter Friday night (Sept. 7) because of lightning in the area with the score tied at 14-14.
The game will be resumed at 6 p.m. Saturday (Sept. 8) at the Columbus East field. The completion of the game will be at Columbus East because the Columbus North field is scheduled to host an all-day band competition.
Columbus North took a 7-0 first-quarter lead when senior Jesse Tompkins capped a 76-yard drive with a 4-yard touchdown run.
The Flashes made it 7-6 early in the second quarter when junior Logan Hall darted 2 yards around left end, but CN senior Shaquille Ash blocked FC's extra-point attempt.
The Bull Dogs extended their edge to 14-6 on the ensuing kickoff when senior Taylor Summa raced 96 yards down the right sideline for a return touchdown.
Franklin Central countered with an 83-yard drive, senior Aaron Neal running around right end for a 1-yard score with 7:37 to go in the half and senior Kyler White passing to Corey Durm for a two-point conversion.
Those were the final two plays before the game was suspended with Franklin Central set to kick to Columbus North.
