COLUMBUS, Ind. -- Junior Krishan Narsinghani and freshmen Rahul Jha and Kevin Luo each claimed singles matches Tuesday (Sept. 4), sparking the No. 14 Columbus North boys tennis team to a 5-0 victory over Pike.
Sophomore Mitchell Miller and freshman Aditiya Mantra won at No. 1 doubles, while junior Nick Littrell and sophomore Jake Likens prevailed at No. 2 doubles in the first varsity match for the duo.
The Bull Dogs improved to 5-2 overall and 3-1 in Conference Indiana matches.
Narsinghani defeated Pike senior Kyle Kletz 6-2, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, while Jha topped the Red Devils' Stephan Mitchell 6-1, 6-2 and Luo blanked Pike's Stefon Lowery 6-0, 6-0.
Miller and Mantri beat Pike senior Justin Colbert and sophomore Charlie Crouse 6-2, 6-0. Littrell and Likens rallied past Red Devils senior Kyle Powers and freshman Mike Spoelman 3-6, 6-3, 10-4.
"We played a weaker team and took advantage of putting a couple of players in varsity for the first time," CN coach Kendal Hammel said. "We also moved some players around in our lineup."
Columbus North also won eight of nine JV matches to improve to 7-0 for the season.
The Bull Dogs return to action at 5:30 p.m. Thursday (Sept. 6) when they visit Perry Meridian in another CI encounter. They follow by hosting the Columbus North Invitational at 9 a.m. Saturday (Sept. 8) with matches against Providence, Batesville and Martinsville.
