Home » Boys' Tennis NewsNo. 9 Center Grove nips No. 15 Columbus North in boys tennisSeptember 1, 2012 Columbus North High School GREENWOOD, Ind. -- Junior Krishan Narsinghani and freshman Rahul Jha each won singles matches Saturday (Sept. 1), but it wasn't enough as the No. 15 Columbus North boys tennis team dropped a 3-2 decision at No. 9 Center Grove.
Narsinghani defeated CG senior Kyle Marsh 6-2, 6-0, while Jha topped Trojans sophomore Eric Ruddell 6-1, 6-3.
However, Center Grove sophomore Conner Anderson beat CN sophomore Anthony Sanders 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1 singles and the Trojans took both doubles spots to claim the win on their home courts.
Junior Vaughn Knutson and senior Cole McDaniel defeated Columbus North sophomore Mitchell Miller and junior Kamal Maharjan 6-3, 6-4, while sophomore Cam Schoolcraft and senior Logan Clevenger rallied past CN junior Luke Red and senior Ernest Xi 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.
"We had good play from all positions, and we were especially solid in singles," CN coach Kendal Hammel said. "The match came down to (No.) 1 doubles, where we dropped a close match in three sets.
"I was really pleased on how this lineup competed against a strong team."
At the JV level, Columbus North won five of nine matches to improve to 6-0 for the season.
Columbus North, now 4-2 in varsity dual matches, returns to the courts at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday (Sept. 4) when it hosts Pike in a Conference Indiana encounter. The Bull Dogs follow by traveling to Perry Meridian at 5:30 p.m. Thursday (Sept. 6), then host their CN Invitational with three matches next Saturday (Sept. 8).
