BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Junior Keaton Voegerl scored two goals Tuesday evening (Aug. 28), leading the Columbus North boys soccer team to a 3-1 victory at Bloomington North.
The Class 2A No. 12 Bull Dogs improved to 2-0-1 overall and 1-0-0 in Conference Indiana.
The teams played to a scoreless draw over the first 40 minutes, but CN junior Ethan Smith broke the deadlock with an unassisted goal on a penalty kick after a foul in the penalty box.
Voegerl later followed with his two goals, one assisted by sophomore Jerret Stark and the other assisted by junior Parker Hirsch.
Juniors Matt Verplank and Ben Davis each played one half in goal for the Bull Dogs.
Columbus North also won the JV game 1-0. Sophomore Byron Barer scored for CN off an assist from Stark.
Columbus North returns to action at 6 p.m. Thursday (Aug. 30) when it hosts Franklin Central at Richard Wigh Soccer Complex. The Bull Dogs follow with a game against Westfield at 11:30 a.m. Saturday (Sept. 1).
