Home » Boys' Tennis NewsColumbus North boys tennis tops Franklin Central 3-2August 28, 2012 Columbus North High School COLUMBUS, Ind. -- Junior Luke Red posted a quick victory at No. 1 singles Tuesday (Aug. 28), leading the No. 15 Columbus North boys tennis team to a 3-2 victory over No. 22 Franklin Central.
Junior Krishan Narsinghani, senior Ernest Xi and sophomore Mitchell Miller also posted wins for the Bull Dogs, who improved to 2-1 overall and 1-1 in Conference Indiana on their home court.
Red defeated Franklin Central's Tanner Blais 6-3, 6-0, while Narsinghani topped the Flashes' Aaron Snyder 7-6 (3), 7-6 (4) at No. 3 singles. Xi and Miller teamed to beat FC's Tyler Conrad and Yash Thandani 7-5, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles.
Sophomore Anthony Sanders dropped a 6-2, 6-1 decision to Franklin Central's at KV Ghumaan at No. 2 singles. The Flashes' Jake and Ben Sprinkle defeated CN junior Kamal Maharjan and senior Pascal Lee 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2 doubles.
"This is a really big win for our team," Columbus North coach Kendal Hammel said. "Krishan as well as Ernest and Mitchell played huge in their matches. The match came down to 3 singles, where Krishan came up big. Luke also played a very good match at 1 singles."
The CN junior varsity took a 6-4 decision in its matches.
Columbus North is back in action at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday (Aug. 29) when they visit Columbus East. The Bull Dogs follow with another CI match at 5:30 p.m. Thursday (Aug. 30) at Lawrence Central, then visit Center Grove at 9 a.m. Saturday (Sept. 1).
