Bloomington North defeats Columbus North 2-0 in girls soccer

Columbus North High School BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Junior Emma St. John and senior Leigh Dukeman each scored Wednesday evening (Aug. 22), lifting the Bloomington North girls soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Columbus North 2-0 in a Conference Indiana game.
The Bull Dogs fell to 2-2-0 overall and 1-1-0 in league games with the decision.
Bloomington North (1-2-0, 1-0-0) led 1-0 at the half on St. John's goal in the 10th minute. Dukeman's tally in the 47th minute provided an insurance goal.
"We had five or six shots that hit the crossbar or goal post but could not find the back of the net," CN coach Derek Stewart said.
Bloomington North also won the JV game 1-0. Sara Salter scored in the 38th minute to provide the winner for the Cougars. Sophomore Kyra Dasavich had five saves for the Bull Dogs.
Columbus North is back in action at 6 p.m. Saturday when it faces rival Columbus East at the Richard Wigh Soccer Complex. That game is part of a North-East soccer quadruple-header -- the JV girls at 2 p.m., the JV boys at 4 p.m., the varsity girls at 6 p.m. and the varsity boys at 8 p.m.
