Home » Girls' Soccer NewsColumbus North girls soccer splits in District 5 TourneyAugust 19, 2012 Columbus North High School COLUMBUS, Ind. -- Senior Kaci Tompkins and junior Kenadie Carlson each scored second-half goals Saturday (Aug. 18) to lift the Columbus North girls soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Providence in the District 5 Tournament at the Richard Wigh Soccer Complex.
Tompkins scored first off an assist from Carlson for the Bull Dogs, who improved to 1-1 following a 4-1 season-opening setback to Mooresville earlier in the day. Carlson followed with an insurance goal off a feed from LauraAnn Watanabe. Senior Elizabeth James posted a shutout as goalkeeper for CN.
Earlier, sophomore Claire Chambers scored off an assist from senior Michelle Amlung but that wasn't enough as Columbus North dropped its opener against Mooresville.
Senior Logan Bowling scored two goals and added two assists to lead the Pioneers. Sophomore Ashley Kimble tallied Mooresville's other two goals with one assist, while sophomore Kellie Cavanaugh also had an assist.
The Columbus North JV also played twice, falling 2-1 to Mooresville and playing to a 1-1 tie with Oldenburg Academy. Sophomore Micah Shoaf scored one goal in each game. Sophomore Kyra Dasovich was the goalkeeper for both games. She had 10 saves against the Pioneers and seven saves against the Twisters.
The Bull Dogs return to action at 7:30 p.m. Monday (Aug. 20) when they host Southport in a Conference Indiana game at the Richard Wigh Complex.
